Paths

Know what to learn next, and why.

Choose a roadmap for your goal. These are suggested learning sequences, not enrolled courses or a progress-tracking dashboard. Each has a free starting point; complete training products are still in development.

Beginner

Cybersecurity Foundations Path

Build the networking, Windows, Linux, scripting and security fundamentals you need before specialising.

Who it’s for

New to IT or cybersecurity? Start here. No security experience is required.

What to work towards

Explain how a small lab works and document a basic Windows log investigation.

Suggested learning order

  1. 01Networking: IP addresses, DNS, ports and common protocols
  2. 02Windows: users, permissions, services and Event Viewer
  3. 03Linux: files, permissions, processes and the command line
  4. 04Security fundamentals: identity, least privilege, patching and risk
  5. 05Introductory lab: investigate Windows logon events
  6. 06Scripting: practise reading and filtering data with PowerShell

SOC Analyst Path

Develop a security operations workflow: read logs, understand alerts, investigate evidence and communicate findings.

Who it’s for

For learners comfortable with networking and operating system basics. Complete Foundations first if needed.

What to work towards

Produce a log timeline, a triage decision and a clear investigation report with evidence and limitations.

Suggested learning order

  1. 01Log analysis: event fields, timestamps and normal activity
  2. 02First investigation: compare Windows events 4624 and 4625
  3. 03SIEM fundamentals: collection, parsing, querying and time ranges
  4. 04Alert triage: scope, context, false positives and prioritisation
  5. 05Detection: describe a rule, test it in a lab and record its limits
  6. 06Investigation: correlate evidence, document findings and escalation
  7. 07Broaden your practice: vulnerability management and incident response
All levels

Cybersecurity Career Path

Turn your skills and projects into a portfolio, stronger applications and better interviews.

Who it’s for

For learners with a project to document, including career changers preparing their first applications.

What to work towards

Create a sanitised project write-up, an evidence-based CV bullet and a technical interview explanation.

Suggested learning order

  1. 01Choose a target role and compare its recurring skill requirements
  2. 02Document a project: goal, method, evidence, findings and limits
  3. 03Build a portfolio: publish sanitised work with clear explanations
  4. 04Prepare your CV: connect each skill to evidence you can discuss
  5. 05Apply thoughtfully: tailor applications and track feedback
  6. 06Practise interviews: explain decisions, troubleshooting and next steps
